Advantages of the construction and materials
used in the Master Grand Piano Petrof 210
Pasat
Rim
Petrof original. Inner rim – laminated
beech, birch construction, 13 lamels.
Outer rim – laminated construction from
birch plywood.
Total thickness of the rim 8.4 cm.
The great thickness of the outer
rim is one of many advantages of
Petrof's grand pianos. It gives them
strength, solidity and stability.
Pasat's inner wooden frame ensures high
and long term tuning stability and
action regulation as well as sound board
crown stability, which is a presumption
for perfect performance.
Frame posts
4 Spruce posts + 1 treble post made from
special plastificated and compressed
beech wood called Lignamon. Connection –
fish-tail + beech dowels.
The last treble post is made
from special plastificated and compressed beech wood compounding
hardness of the wooden frame in the high
frequencies. This causes less damping of
the treble tones. A total of 5 frame
posts provide high contour stability of
the frame, stability of tuning and
regulation. The treble post made of
Lignamon wood enriches the grand piano
with the bright long high tones.
Legs
Petrof original. Solid beech core, solid
alder outer lining, Gabon counter
veneer, outer decorative thin veneer.
The robust construction of the
legs ensures a high stability of the
instrument when played.
Iron plate
Czech producer. Gray cast iron, hand
worked, numerically exact drilled,
lacquered.
The iron plate, which is of a
vivid light gold tint, perfects the
modern design of the instrument. It is
possible to harmonize the piano design
with the design of its surroundings and
to produce this grand piano with silver
metal parts.
Iron
plate support
Steel adjustable bolt between cross
block of wooden frame and iron frame.
The steel adjustable bolt
increases form stability of the iron
plate and consequently the Pasat´s
tuning stability.
Hardware fittings
Petrof original. Solid brass, polished,
lacquered.
P 210 Pasat´s hinges and
fittings are easily compared in quality
with the highest class models of our
competitors. Hardware fittings are
corrosion resistant, therefore they do
not require any maintenance.
Pinblock
Special beech plywood type Multiplex,
original veneer thickness 2 mm
compressed to the density 800 - 850kg/m3
(= 6 veneer layers/cm), high moisture
resistant glue.
The pinblock has a high
resistance against atmospheric changes
(e.g. humidity). It provides equal
torque of tuning pins, which results in
particularly high stability of tuning.
Soundboard
Petrof original. Diaphragmatic tapered
around the whole perimeter.
Thickness 9.5 mm in the center,
tapered to 7.5 mm along the perimeter,
asymmetric crown. Made from European
mountain spruce. Special long term
moisture conditioning and care during
the whole production process.
Ribs
Petrof original. Ends hand fitted,
asymmetric shaped, made from European
mountain spruce. Shaped laminated beech
cross rib.
A new and original asymmetric
crown and asymmetric tapering of the
sound board and its ribs create optimal
conditions for sound board resonation.
This fact contributes to generating the
typical tone of this grand piano.
Bridges
Petrof original. Treble – solid beech,
maple cap, genuine ebony descant cap.
Bass – solid beech, maple cap, lightened
by holes. Bridges graphite coated, hand
notched and bored.
The genuine ebony wood used in
the treble bridge cup minimizes dumping
of the highest tones. The ebony cup
enables better transmission of the
treble tones onto the sound board.
Pasat´s ebony bridge cup creates
significantly bright and long sound of
the high tones.
Duplex Scale
Agraffes, front and rear tuned duplexes.
Single hitch pinning.
Duplexes enriches the tone
colour of the grand piano Pasat. Single
hitch pinning increases tuning
stability.
Strings & Tuning pins
Steel wire Mapes USA, Röslau Germany.
Copper Degen Germany. Longest string
1493 mm. Bass strings Petrof original.
Steel, nickeled, stain resistance.
Petrof produce strings using the
highest quality string wire.
Hammer heads
Abel Germany, walnut or hornbeam
mouldings. Hornbeam hammer shanks. Abel
premium under felt and top felt.
Hammer heads Abel, which are
fitted in this instrument, are some of
the best worldwide. They enable the
player to get a great variety of tones.
Dampers
Petrof, hornbeam heads. Felt Laoureux
France.
The felt, manufactured by French
company Laoureux, is a guarantee of the
highest quality proved by generations.
Magnetic
Accelerated Action
Magnetic Accelerated Action (MAA).
Wippen rail aluminum. Hammer rail
aluminum. Hornbeam action parts.
The PETROF action is quick, with
good repetition, it enables the grand
piano Pasat to be played confidently,
even technically demanding passages, and
to have full control of creating tones.
Specifically profiled aluminum action
rails are very stable also in changing
humidity.
Keys
Petrof original. European spruce, white
and black acrylic tops – Polyplex
Sweden. Individually balanced keys.
Grand piano P 210 Pasat has keys
of European origin, each key is
individually balanced. The quality is
proven by more than 140 years of
production tradition.
Key bed
Petrof original. Spruce sandwich board,
beech veneered. Solid beech insert in
lyre and legs zone. Thickness 47 mm.
Robust key bed is another
component which ensures regulation
stability of Pasat´s action as well as
stability of the whole instrument while
being played dynamically.
Pedals
3 pedals, solid brass.
The construction, materials and
function of P 210 Pasat´s pedals are
comparable in quality with the highest
class grand pianos´ pedal mechanisms.
